Friends of Maine Seabird Islands - The mission of the Friends of Maine Seabird Islands is to promote and support the goals of acquisition, conservation, restoration and management of seabirds and significant seabird nesting islands and coastal habitats in Maine through community outreach, education and partnerships. Friends of Maine Seabird Islands is a community based non-profit conservation organization with 501(c)(3) tax status from the United States Internal Revenue Service.
  10. Hunters for Fair Bear Hunting - A grassroots organization of Maine Guides and hunters who support the Bear Referendum. 
  11. International Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies - IAFWA is a quasi-governmental organization of public agencies charged with the protection and management of North America's fish and wildlife resources.
  12. Izaak Walton League of America - This page features one of the nation's oldest, most respected conservation organizations with more than seven decades of conservation achievements which include: monitoring streams, conducting hunter education courses, supporting Becoming An Outdoors-Woman programs and Teaming With Wildlife coalitions, providing outdoor recreation opportunities for state residents, and conducting other types of work and activities to protect state wildlife and natural resources.
  13. Junior Maine Guide Program - This certification program is offered primarily through Maine summer camps, and prepares youth ages 9-18 for a one-week camp to earn JMG certification. Jointly sponsored by the Maine Youth Camping Association and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
  14. The Lakes Environmental Association - Serving the Lakes Region of Western Maine, L.E.A. is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to clean lakes in the Sebago watershed. Includes Lakes Region fishing report and daily input from angler.
  15. Land for Maine's Future Program - The Program was established in 1987 when Maine voters overwhelmingly approved a $35 million bond for purchasing lands of statewide significance for recreation and conservation.
  16. Maine Aquatic Biodiversity Project - A collaborative venture of The Nature Conservancy and the Maine Departments of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and Environmental Protection.  MABP is producing an in-depth synthesis of what is known about freshwater biodiversity in Maine.  The project focus is on the fish, macroinvertebrates, amphibians, reptiles and vascular plants that inhabit the streams, rivers, ponds and lakes of Maine.  The MABP database currently includes data from almost 200 studies -- and the number continues to grow as new research and monitoring programs are accessed.  MABP plans to eventually make all the data accessible via the web.  At the present time, only a subset of the data are web-accessible.  These data are the metadata for each study -- data that describe when the study was carried out, by whom and where, and what types of data were collected.  This catalogue of biodiversity studies can be accessed via this website.

Winter Walk 2005 - The winter of 2005 is the Silver Anniversary of the 200 mile snowshoe and toboggan trip that Garrett and Alexandra Conover took over the frozen waterways of the Maine North Woods. The route started from Greenville, at the foot of Moosehead Lake, up the lake and across the Northwest Carry. From there, they journeyed up the West and North branches of the Penobscot, across another height of land, and then down the St. John River to Allagash Village, at the confluence where the Allagash joins the St. John.  This site also includes education links.
